Girl group and Armed Forces supporters The Saturdays lent their support to charity uk4u Thanks! in the quest to send 23,000 Christmas 'goody' boxes to Service men and woman who are working away from their families this Christmas. BAE Systems has supported the scheme and the charity since its inception in 2005.
Una, Mollie, Frankie, Vanessa and Rochelle from The Saturdays arrived by 4 ton truck at RAF Northolt and delivered Christmas Boxes to sailors, soldiers and airmen from the Royal Navy, Army and the Royal Air Force. The girls were joined by the Defence Minister Kevan Jones and Father Christmas - one of the charity's trustees who has been growing a beard especially for the part since last Christmas.
Defence Minister Kevan Jones said: "Knowing that the public are behind them when they are working in often very difficult conditions, especially at this time, is a real morale boost for our Servicemen and women."
The Christmas boxes are destined for locations such as Afghanistan and the Falklands, as well as ships and submarines across the world. The British Forces Post Office system is not used, so as not to delay parcels from families and friends.
